#1. District 3, Local Restaurant Nga's Seafood Restaurant Review
Nga's Seafood Restaurant(Quan Oc Nga), a famous local seafood restaurant, is located near the intersection in front of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Science in District 3. Although it is a bit far from the city center, it is not easily accessible, but it is a popular restaurant among locals because it offers a variety of delicious local seafood dishes at affordable prices.

At the entrance to the restaurant, there was a cooking stand and a table neatly arranged with various seafood. Most of the food were prepared on gas burners at the stand, and it was amazing to see dozens of dishes prepared in such a small space.

There were tables spread out on the street in front of the restaurant, so we could eat there or use the tables on the second floor. I visited with my family on a Friday evening and ate outside.

There were fans inside the restaurant, so it was less hot and seemed more sanitary than the outdoor area where Mickey Mouse walks around, but I definitely liked the atmosphere of sitting on the street and eating.

After taking a seat at an outside table, they gave us bowls, salt, chopped pepper, and lime, and sauces. A small spoon is used to pour soy sauce or other sauces onto food, and a small fork is used to scoop out the meat of things like snails.

The first dish I ordered was Oc Giac Bo(Apple Snail with Garlic Butter). Thinly sliced apple snails are stir-fried with garlic, butter, sugar, and others, creating a sweet yet savory, addictive flavor that keeps me coming back this restaurant.

I ordered some baguettes and dipped them in this sauce, and they paired perfectly. The apple snails were also soft and odorless, making them a perfect accompaniment to beer.

The second dish I ordered was Mi Xao Oc Mong Tay(Stir-fried Noodles with Razor Clam). It's a stir-fried noodle dish with instant noodles, razor clams, and vegetables. It's a food that's reasonably priced, generous in portions, and taste good, no matter which restaurant you go to.

I put this in a bowl and topped it with a little soy sauce with chili peppers, adding a spicy and salty flavor that made it even more delicious. The fried rice(Com Chien) at local restaurants is good, but it's also good to order the fried noodles(Mi Xao).

My third dish, Ngheu Hap Sa(Clam Soup), arrived. Large clams were steamed in a broth with lemongrass, garlic, and chili peppers. The spicy, sour, and salty flavors were pleasant.

The fourth dish I ordered was Huong Trung Muoi(Snails with Salted Egg Sauce). The thick, savory sauce, made with egg yolk and salt, is really good. It's also perfect for dipping a piece of Banh Mi into.

The fifth dish I ordered was Rau Muong Xao(Stir-fried Morning Glory). They have stir-fried it with beef or clams, but personally, I think the one stir-fried with just garlic is the simple and most delicious.

For the last sixth dish, I ordered four pieces of So Duong Nuong(Grilled Cockle). It was a dish of chopped cockles, sprinkled with green onions, nuts, oil, etc. and grilled. It was quite expensive at 80,000VND per piece, but it was worth ordering because it was large and fresh.

#2. Nga's Seafood Restaurant - Menu
Nga's Seafood Restaurant(Quan Oc Nga) is a local favorite, offering reasonably priced dishes. Each menu item is available to choose in small(Nho) or large(Lon) sizes, allowing even small groups to order small portions of several dishes and enjoy a variety of dishes. Most menu prices are listed, but some seafood, such as crab, and cockle are priced at market price and therefore not listed.

I visited with my family on Friday evening and ordered the following for dinner:
Mi Xao Oc Mong Tay(Stir-fried Noodles with Razor Clam): 120,000VND
Oc Giac Bo(Apple Snail with Garlic Butter): 200,000VND x 2 EA = 400,000VND
Ngheu Hap Sa(Clam Soup): 120,000VND
Huong Trung Muoi(Snails with Salted Egg Sauce): 290,000VND
So Duong Nuong(Grilled Cockle): 80,000VND x 4 EA = 320,000VND
Rau Muong Xao(Stir-fried Morning Glory): 40,000VND
Banh Mi(Baguette): 8,000VND x 5 EA = 40,000VND
Nuoc Suoi(Water): 15,000VND x 2 EA = 30,000VND
Saigon Beer: 20,000VND
Soft Drink: 25,000VND
Khan Lanh(Wet Wipes): 3,000VND x 6 EA = 18,000VND
We had a satisfying meal for a reasonable total of 1,443,000VND. Although a bit far from the city center, it's not easily accessible, but it's a charming restaurant offering a variety of delicious local seafood dishes at affordable prices. I especially recommend ordering the Oc Giac Bo(Apple Snail with Garlic Butter), paired with the Banh Mi(Baguette).
