#1. District 1, Bitexco Tower Local Restaurant Banh Mi Nhu Lan Review
Local Restaurant Banh Mi Nhu Lan is located near Bitexco Tower in District 1, one of Ho Chi Minh City's most iconic landmarks. Despite its central location, this restaurant is popular with both tourists and locals alike, offering affordable and hearty local foods.

Selling a variety of Vietnamese groceries, including ham, grilled meats, meat pies, and pickled vegetables, the exterior feels more like a grocery store than a restaurant. Step inside and you'll find a spacious hall with tables for dining.

Of course, in addition to banh mi, they also sell a variety of grilled meats and vegetables as side dishes, along with rice. You can also order noodles, steamed meat buns, and other dishes at affordable prices. At the banh mi stall, I saw small baguettes and neatly arranged with various fillings.

I visited alone on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm, a bit late for lunch. As I entered, I immediately saw tables for dining, which wasn't visible from the outside.

On the table were various sauces to go with the food, cutlery, a menu, and more. When I ordered food, they gave me a wet wipe. There were also bananas, and of course, should pay for the number of bananas you eat.

They sold a wide variety of drinks, including fresh coconut, fruit juice, smoothies, and coffee. They didn't seem to carry alcohol. I ordered Tra Da(Iced tea) for 2,000VND, which was a nice, inexpensive drink to have with a meal.

The first dish I ordered was Banh Mi Thit Nuong(BBQ Banh Mi). It was served in a paper bag, which prevented the baguette crumbs from flying around and the fillings from falling out, making it a comfortable meal.

Thinly sliced, seasoned pork, pate, pickled radish and carrots, onions, cilantro, cucumber, and more were stuffed inside a baguette generously sprinkled with sesame seeds. The nutty baguette, rich meat, and fresh vegetables were well-balanced, creating a clean and delicious flavor.

After Banh Mi, my second dish was Com Heo Quay(Roasted Pork with Rice). It was rice, pork, pickled vegetables, cucumber, and sauce on the plate. A soup with gourd and minced pork was also served.

The pork, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, along with the sweet and sour pickled vegetables and the Vietnamese, non-sticky rice, soaked up the sweet and sour sauce, making for a truly delicious meal. When the sour, sweet, and salty flavors got tiresome, I munched on some fresh cucumber to soothe my palate.

#2. Local Restaurant Banh Mi Nhu Lan - Menu
Local restaurant Banh Mi Nhu Lan offers a variety of grilled meats and vegetables, along with rice, in addition to banh mi. You can also order noodles, steamed meat buns, and drinks at affordable prices. The menu features photos and is written in both Vietnamese and English, and the staff, though limited, speaks some English, so ordering shouldn't be a problem.

I visited for lunch alone on Sunday and ordered as follows:
Banh Mi Thit Nuong(BBQ Banh Mi): 35,000VND
Com Heo Quay(Roast Pork with Rice): 50,000VND
Tra Da(Tra Da): 2,000VND
For a mere 87,000VND, I was able to eat my fill. Despite its central location, Banh Mi Nhu Lan is popular with both tourists and locals alike, offering affordable and hearty local foods. This is a great restaurant to visit and enjoy a casual meal while sightseeing in the city.
