#1. District 2, Thao Dien Taiwanese Restuarant Yeshi Taiwanese Kitchen Review
Yeshi Taiwanese Kitchen is located in the heart of Thao Dien's main street in District 2. This newly opened restaurant is a great place to enjoy Taiwanese fusion cuisine in Ho Chi Minh City. The atmosphere is classy and the service is excellent, making it the most satisfying Taiwanese restaurant I've visited recently.

Yeshi Taiwanese Kitchen is located on the first floor of the building that houses the bakery. Accessible by stairs or elevator on the right side of the building. The dim lighting and well-spaced tables created a much more upscale atmosphere than I expected.

I visited for a solo meal on a Thursday evening and took a table by the window. The high ceilings, along with curtains and plants placed between the tables, made it nearly impossible to hear conversations at nearby tables.

I ordered Yeshi Pineapple Craft Beer, a craft beer only available here. Made with pineapple rind, this has a smooth, subtle pineapple aroma and sweet flavor.

I ordered a total of five dishes for my meal, with Cold Braised Aubergine and Hot & Sour Soup coming out first. The staff took my order and arranged the order of the dishes, which felt quite professional.

The first dish, Cold Braised Aubergine, was steamed eggplant topped with a homemade sauce and chopped green onions. The tender texture, sweet and salty sauce, and green onion flavor complemented each other well. It was cold, not warm, so it felt more like a light salad.

The second dish, Hot & Sour Soup, was a warm soup with tomatoes, eggs, shiitake mushrooms, cilantro, and pepper. It tasted similar to Taiwanese tomato and egg soup, but the addition of shiitake mushrooms and cilantro gave it a slightly more sophisticated feel.

The third dish I ordered was Yeshi Fried Chicken - Spicy Mala. It came on a large plate with Ji Pai(Taiwanese Fried Chicken) sprinkled with mala powder, cilantro mayonnaise, and pineapple pickles.

The chicken thighs were used to make the ji pai, which was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, and the spicy mala powder went well together. The refreshing and savory cilantro mayonnaise was added, making it truly delicious. The pineapple pickle, which was sweet and sour, was also better than expected.

After finishing the Ji Pai, the Cured Raw Fish And Aiyu Salad and Boiled OG Dumplings arrived right away. The staff was constantly attentive to the table, allowing me to enjoy my meal without feeling interrupted.

The fourth dish, Cured Raw Fish And Aiyu Salad, consisted of lightly salted red tilapia sashimi topped with ginger, shiso, chopped chili peppers, and calamansi dressing. It tasted like European-style sashimi, and was quite enjoyable.

The final dish, the fifth, was Boiled OG Dumplings. It was pork dim sum served in a sweet and sour sauce. The sauce had a subtle spiciness that was surprisingly good.

They also sell the famous Taiwanese whiskey, Kavalan Single Malt, so I ordered a glass. I drank it on the rocks in a stylish whiskey glass, and it was sweet and smooth with fruity notes, yet with a hint of spice.

#2. Yeshi Taiwanese Kitchen - Menu
Yeshi Taiwanese Kitchen offers a wide variety of Taiwanese dishes, including dim sum, ji pai(Taiwanese fried chicken), spicy garlic fried chicken, lu rou fan(pork rice bowl), and noodles, all at reasonable prices. They has a variety of beverages, including tea, cocktails, beer, and whiskey, as well as desserts, making it a great place for a full meal. They also service seasonal specials, making it fun to order and sample those specials.

I visited for dinner alone on Thursday evening and ordered as follows:
Cold Braised Aubergine: 59,000VND
Hot & Sour Soup: 55,000VND
Yeshi Fried Chicken: 139,000VND
Cured Raw Fish And Aiyu Salad: 139,000VND
Boiled OG Dumplings: 89,000VND
Yeshi Pineapple Craft Beer: 95,000VND
Kavalan Single Malt: 290,000VND
Including a 5% service charge, 8% general VAT, and 10% alcohol VAT, the total bill came to 990,129VND. While it seems expensive for a solo diner, considering I ordered five dishes, a beer, and a whiskey, it's actually not that bad. Above all, it was the most satisfying Taiwanese restaurant I've visited in years, and I can confidently recommend it to anyone craving Taiwanese cuisine.
